The Hopkins Elementary School community is thankful for some quick thinking by a GCPS crossing guard who moved three students out of harm's way on a rainy day in October. Crossing Guard Jeffrey Kenny was in the crosswalk in front of Hopkins when he saw a car skidding on the wet pavement toward three children who were in the crosswalk. Mr. Kenny’s quick action ushering the students away from the area prevented the children from getting hurt. He then followed up with the school, parent, and students to ensure that everyone was alright. The school held a surprise event before Thanksgiving Break to thank Mr. Kenny for his dedication to students and their safety.
