Students at Alcova Elementary School are learning math both inside and outside the classroom. The school has turned a stairwell into “multiplication stairs.” Multiplication tables are painted on the steps, reinforcing what students have learned in the classroom. Multiplication tables also are painted on the sidewalk leading to the playground. Principal Todd Langley got the idea from Gregory Tang, a mathematician and educational instructor.
