Annually, the Patrick ES community honors local firefighters, inviting them to a special breakfast, performance, and classroom tour. The event also is an opportunity to celebrate the life and sacrifice of Bobby Patrick, for whom the school was named. Mr. Patrick was the first Gwinnett County firefighter to lose his life in the line of duty (April 14, 2003). He was a high school teacher before becoming a firefighter, and taught hundreds of children about fire safety and spent many hours volunteering in schools. His wife, Mary, is a retired educator who taught at Sugar Hill ES. In these photos, see how the school celebrates these community heroes.
