When a teacher needs to be away from his or her classroom, for a day or for a longer stretch due to leave, substitute teachers fill an important role. Following the regular teacher’s direction, substitutes ensure that students keep learning in their teacher’s absence. In Gwinnett, some substitute educators are on permanent staff at the school, familiar to the children and part of the education team. These Stellar Subs are ready to fill in where they are needed. Oftentimes, one-time educators, many now retired, stay just as busy as substitutes, bringing their experience and expertise to the classroom wherever and whenever they are needed.
