School Resource Officer (SRO) Ryan Buffington traded his SRO badge for a U.S. Air Force uniform earlier this month as he deployed for an eight-month tour in the Middle East, his third deployment. Senior Master Sergeant Buffington will serve as superintendent of security forces at Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait. Here in GCPS, he serves as an SRO for North Gwinnett cluster schools, based at North Gwinnett MS. The students at the school gave him a parade on his last day at school before leaving for deployment, complete with waving flags and patriotic tunes played by the school band. SMSgt. Buffington expects to return to Gwinnett by the start of the 2017-18 school year.
