The Gwinnett County Board of Education will go on the road this spring, as it does each year, meeting once in each Board member’s district. The meetings are a time for the School Board to share information with the public. They also are an opportunity to hear CEO/Superintendent J. Alvin Wilbanks’ annual address on the state of the school district, focusing on the district’s strategic direction while also providing updates on initiatives and the budget. The 2016 Area Board Meetings are organized by the schools in each Board member’s electoral district. The physical location of the school determines which Area Board Meeting the school is designated to attend. Citizens may attend any one of the five meetings, however. All meetings begin at 7 p.m. in the host school’s theater, with refreshments served at 6:30 p.m. Meetings are set for March 24 (District II, Lanier High), March 30 (District I, Archer High), March 31 (District IV, Brookwood High), April 12 (District III, Duluth High), and April 14 (District V, Meadowcreek High). Note that the District I meeting was changed from an earlier published date of March 22.
