GCPS’ robust career and technical education offerings provide students with real-life opportunities to explore the world of work. Recently, the district’s 2016 Career and Technical Education Student of the Year awards celebration recognized the achievement of high-performing students from each Gwinnett high school program, and honored three county-level winners, Avneet Sethi of Meadowcreek High School, recipient of a $1,000 scholarship provided by Gwinnett Employer Committee; Jonathan Jeffrey of Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science and Technology (1st runner up), recipient of a $750 scholarship provided by Atlanta Electrical Contractors Association; and Zain Charaniya of Parkview High School (2nd runner up), recipient of a $500 scholarship provided by Gwinnett Employee Committee.
