Once again, GCPS is partnering with the United Ebony Society for the county's 17th annual celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Mon., Jan 16. With a theme of “Striving For Excellence: Awareness, Education and Service,” the celebration will include a parade, performances by students, and a display area with resources from community outreach organizations and artwork of Gwinnett students. A short program is set for 11 to 11:25 a.m. at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center (GJAC), located at 75 Langley Dr. in Lawrenceville. GJAC will be the starting point for the parade at noon which will proceed down Lawrenceville Hwy. and end at Moore MS, located at 1221 Lawrenceville Hwy. Online, find volunteer opportunities to commemorate Dr. King's legacy of service. GCPS schools and offices will be closed on MLK Day, with students returning to class on Jan. 17.
