For almost a decade, the Gwinnett County Board of Education’s statement of its Core Beliefs and Commitments has been a prominent document among the “foundational components” of the school district’s strategic direction. Last fall, the School Board began work on a revised document to build on the original statement to reflect their collective beliefs and commitments. The revised document is focused on America’s foundational principals and the role of public education in undergirding and advancing these principles. (In recent years, the Board also has revised several of these foundational components, including the district’s vision, strategic goals, and Strategic Priorities for 2010–2020, as well as the district’s definition and characteristics of world-class schools.)
