Gwinnett is fortunate to be the home of many caring and concerned students who want the best for their communities and actively work to make that happen. This year, as part of the district's Counseling Week festivities, the Office of Advisement and Counseling honored three students, one from each grade level, with the inaugural Promise of Gwinnett Caring Award. The new award specifically honors students who demonstrate exceptional character, a strong record of community service, and who regularly display care for their peers and adults within their school communities. The 2017 honorees are Jessica Elizabeth Stanhouse, a 5th grader at Arcado ES; Ashley Paige Richardson, an 8th grade student at Couch MS; and Michelle Derewitz, a Lanier HS senior. (For each student's video, the student section begins around 1:15.)
