In February, GCPS schools celebrated Black History Month and the many contributions of African Americans to our great nation. Students studied all aspects of Black history across subject areas, read the work of distinguished authors, performed plays and music, competed in Black History Month "quiz bowl" events, researched and shared their findings on historical figures, created informative bulletin boards and art, represented famous African Americans in "living history" museums, performed dances and read poetry, created videos and exhibits, recreated scenes from the past, learned about Historically Black Colleges and Universities, welcomed special visitors, attended heritage celebrations, and more. In this photo gallery, find just a few of the many ways GCPS students celebrated Black History Month 2018, and checkout this GCPS TV video from the Black History Month celebration at Summerour MS. The gallery includes photos from Alcova ES, Anderson-Livsey ES, Baldwin ES, Brookwood HS, Collins Hill HS, Duluth HS, GIVE East, Hull MS, Partee ES, Rosebud ES, Shiloh ES, Snellville MS, and Taylor ES.
