As the last bell rings for the 2017–18 school year, 522 veteran educators and support staff members marked their retirement from Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS). In total, our 2017–18 retirees have contributed a collective 12,813 years of their lives to education, and a total of 10,204 years to Gwinnett schoolchildren. In fact, 55% of our retirees have worked their entire careers— in the classroom, office, cafeteria, bus, or shop— in this school system. Among this year’s retirees, 180 have 30 or more years of service in education and, of those, 19 have invested 40 or more years in education, including two retirees with 50+ years of experience. Whatever their post-retirement plans, we bid a fond farewell to all of our retirees, and we extend our thanks for their service to Gwinnett County Public Schools!
