Student artists at Jones MS are scary good! In fact, the school’s Art Club won 1st place in the Atlanta Botanical Garden “Scarecrows in the Garden” exhibit. The club took the top spot for the ABG Gainesville location with its scarecrow with a theme of “Ghosts of Artists Past.” The creation was made completely of recycled materials, mostly milk jugs, and represented four famous deceased artists—Vincent Van Gogh, Frida Kahlo, Pablo Picasso, and Bob Ross. Students worked about a month to assemble and paint the artist-inspired skeletons and add props. Each skeleton was painted to represent the work of the featured artist. The “Scarecrows in the Garden” exhibit showcases creative scarecrows from community members, businesses, and school organizations. The exhibit runs through Nov. 3 at the Atlanta Botanical Garden’s Gainesville location.
