During American Education Week, set for Nov. 18-22, Americans nationwide help raise awareness about the need to provide every child with a quality public education. The celebration highlights the importance of bringing together educators, parents, students, and communities in a unified effort to build great public schools, providing public school students with quality schools so that they can grow and achieve in the 21st century. During American Education Week, we celebrate our teachers and administrators and their work to provide our students with a quality and effective education as they reach, educate, and inspire the young people in our schools. However, we know we can’t do this alone. A number of partners also support GCPS and the K-12 education we provide. We celebrate their contributions as well:
Tuesday, Nov. 19: Parents Day
Wednesday, Nov. 20: Education Support Professionals Day
Friday, Nov. 22: Substitute Educators Day
For all those in our schools and our community who are committed to building great public schools in Gwinnett, we say “thank you” and Happy American Education Week!
In this video message, CEO/Superintendent J. Alvin Wilbanks talks about the shared commitment we all have for the education of the young people of our community and an upcoming event that takes place during American Education Week. Next week, look for a slideshow of photos from American Education Week school visits by Principals for a Day, members of our community who spend a school day shadowing local school leaders to learn more about our schools and the role of our principals in educational excellence.
