A beautiful Saturday morning earlier this month brought together nearly 400 runners, Clifford the Big Red Dog, and Dog Man from Dav Pilkey’s popular graphic novels to raise money for GCPS’ book mobiles. The event raised $13,201 to purchase new books for the school-based Book the Bus program, helping children to build their own personal library. Student runners— 132 of them— got to add to their libraries with a free book. For the second year in a row, Peachtree ES fielded the largest number of runners, earning a visit from the Book Mobile next school year. In addition to the 5K and the Fun Run (where Clifford posted a pretty respectable time), the family-friendly morning featured a jump house, corn hole, a giant Connect 4 game, snow cones, ice cream, and more. But, no surprise, more than a few of participants found a quiet corner to start their new book!
It’s not too early to save the date for the 2020 GCPS Book Mobile 5K and Fun Run on Sat., May 2. We’ll see you there!
