Middle and high school students have the opportunity to learn about education policy at the state level while serving on 2019-20 Student Advisory Council for State School Superintendent Richard Woods. Superintendent Woods is accepting applications for the council. Submit applications to students@doe.k12.ga.us through Aug. 31 at 5 p.m. No late applications will be accepted. Selected students will be notified via email. The list of selected students will be posted to the Council web page on Sept. 16.
Middle school students will meet Oct. 21, Jan. 15, and March 24 while high school students will meet Oct. 22, Jan. 16, and March 25. The two groups will participate in a joint community service day on May 5. Participants will meet with Superintendent Woods to discuss the impact of state policies in the classroom, along with other issues related to education, and will serve as ambassadors to their respective schools.
