Among the civic responsibilities of American citizens is participation in the electoral process. The next opportunity to vote will be March 24, the date for Georgia’s Presidential Preference Primary. Monday, Feb. 24, is the deadline to register to vote in that contest in Gwinnett County (or make changes to an existing registration). Citizens can register by mail, online, or in many public buildings, including Gwinnett schools and the J. Alvins Wilbanks Instructional Support Center. Students can register to vote at age 17½ and may vote if they are 18 by Election Day. On the Secretary of State’s website, log on to MVP— My Voting Page— for voter registration status, mail-in application and ballot status, poll locations, and more. Call the Gwinnett County Office of Elections at 678-226-7210 with questions.
