Throughout the school year and on every school day, Gwinnett’s committed and caring teachers do what they do best— broaden horizons, remove barriers to learning, spark big dreams, innovate in the classroom, and advocate for all children. They prepare kids for college, careers, and life by teaching the knowledge and skills our students need to know and be able to do as 21st century learners.
Of course, that was before our world changed. The COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting mandate to end all face-to-face instruction in Gwinnett County Public Schools has had a profound impact on the daily lives of our students, families, and employees. However, during this unprecedented time, we’ve seen our teachers respond as we knew that they would… with the same love, commitment, and hard work that they bring to their classrooms every day.
During Digital Learning Days, GCPS teachers have practiced their craft in virtual classrooms, protecting children’s education and well-being, ensuring that teaching and learning continues, and giving our students an anchor during these uncertain days. While families and staff members alike have felt a keen sense of loss with the abrupt end of our traditional school year, our teachers have gone above and beyond to connect with their students to let them know that they are loved and missed.
During Teacher Appreciation Week 2020, we say “thank you, teachers” for all you have done and will continue to do to help students finish this year strong so they are prepared for the next one!
