For 436 veteran educators and support staff members retiring from Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS), they’ve set their last early-morning alarm to get ready for work. In total, our 2019-20 retirees have contributed a collective 10,467 years of their lives to education, and a total of 8,759 years to Gwinnett schoolchildren. In fact, 60.8% (265) of our retirees have worked their entire careers— in the classroom, office, cafeteria, bus, or shop— in this school system. Among this year’s retirees, 131 have 30 or more years of service in education and, of those, 13 have invested 40 or more years in education. Whatever their post-retirement plans, we bid a fond farewell to all of our retirees, and we extend our thanks for their service to Gwinnett County Public Schools.
