On July 30, 2021, J. Alvin Wilbanks is retiring after more than 25 years as Gwinnett County Public Schools’ superintendent. The district and the greater Gwinnett community wish him well as he completes his remarkable 56-year career in education! Over the last few months—in formal events, at Board meetings, and in cards and emails—staff, students, and community members have taken an opportunity to congratulate Mr. Wilbanks and thank him for his service. On June 25, a special retirement celebration was held in his honor. On July 28, the employees of the Instructional Support Center will drop by to say good-bye to GCPS’ leader. And on July 29, the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce and the business community will thank Mr. Wilbanks for his contributions during a special luncheon held at Gas South Convention Center .
We invite you to enjoy a video of the June 25 celebration of our outgoing leader… a man who is acknowledged, accepted, and admired by many!
