Parents and caregivers are key education partners with their child’s school. Families are invited to participate in the school district’s quarterly AKS at Home initiative. Through live, grade-specific Zoom sessions, recorded sessions, and helpful tipsheets, families of students in grades K-5 are learning ways to help their children practice the key skills they are learning in language arts and math, whether students are learning at home or at school. The sessions are designed to reinforce key skills for each elementary grade level that students should master for success in the content areas of language arts and mathematics.
The first round of live virtual K-5 sessions for the 2021-22 school year is planned for Aug. 23-31 to support learning in the 1st nine weeks of the year. (See the schedule below.) Sessions are hosted by parent instructional coordinators and parent outreach liaisons who staff Parent Centers in the district’s Title I schools and teachers throughout the districts. Interpretation will be provided in Spanish, Korean, and Vietnamese. The sessions are open to all GCPS families.
Register for the grade-specific Zoom sessions on the AKS at Home webpage.
Find tip sheets and recordings by selecting the appropriate grade level. Recordings will be available at the end of each unit series.
