District leaders and the School Board reviewed the 2022-23 calendar at the Dec. 16 Board meeting.
This approved calendar features a start date of Wednesday, Aug. 3, with in-person instruction for students in grades K, 1, 6, and 9, and students served in a small-group setting and digital learning for students in other grades. (In-person instruction begins Aug. 4 for all other grades.) The 2022-23 calendar includes four digital learning days, with two occurring in 1st semester (Sept. 16 and Nov. 8) and two in 2nd semester (Feb. 3 and March 17).
Next year’s calendar for students also features a fall break (Oct. 6-10), a week for Thanksgiving (Nov. 21-25), more than two weeks for Winter Break (Dec. 19-Jan. 4), a holiday on MLK Jr. Day (Jan. 16), a break in February (Feb. 16-20), a week scheduled for Spring Break (April 3-7), and an end date of May 24.
Teachers will begin the school year on July 25 with seven days of pre-planning, and additional planning/post-planning days on Jan. 4 and May 25-26. The calendar also includes June 19—Juneteenth—as a holiday for staff who work during the summer.
