Every year, the school district recognizes an outstanding Career and Technical Education (CTE) student at each high school. From among this group of top-performing students, a CTE Student of the Year and two runners-up are selected, each receiving a scholarship award. Over the next few days, we’ll be celebrating all of our local school CTE Students of the Year! At next week’s event, we’ll share which of these 26 students is the 2021-22 CTE Student of the Year!
So far, we’ve honored our top CTE students from Archer HS, Berkmar HS, Brookwood HS, Central Gwinnett HS, and Collins Hill HS; school winners from Dacula HS, Discovery HS, Duluth HS, and Grayson HS; and honorees from Grayson HS Technical Education Program, Gwinnett Online Campus, Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science, and Technology (GSMST), and Lanier HS.
Join us for the Career and Technical Education Student of the Year celebration!
We can’t wait to share the accomplishments of these outstanding CTE students and celebrate the CTE Student of the Year! On Tuesday, March 22, at 6:30 p.m., watch the CTE awards ceremony on the GCPS TV app, available for Apple, Android, Amazon Fire, and Roku devices; or go to www.gcpstv.org and click “watch live.”
Today, congratulate our top CTE students from Maxwell HS of Technology, McClure Health Science HS, Meadowcreek HS, and Mill Creek HS!
About CTE
When it comes to entering the workforce, the vast majority of our students will need some form of postsecondary study beyond high school, whether that’s a certification program, a trade school, a two-year technical college, or a four-year university degree or beyond. And that’s where GCPS’ cutting-edge, rigorous, and relevant Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs come in, preparing students for a wide range of high-wage, high-skill, in-demand careers. In fact, high school students involved in CTE have real-life opportunities to explore the world of work. As a result, they are more engaged in their studies, perform better in the classroom, and graduate at higher rates. Learn more about CTE in GCPS online.
