Recently, beloved children’s author Rosemary Wells (of Max and Ruby, Sophie, and Yoko the Kitten fame) visited Gwinnett County to promote her newest book and the importance of reading to young children. In this video, learn how opening books and turning off distractions makes a difference for children. GCPS offers a number of parent tipsheets to support literacy at all ages, including suggestions for building pre-reading skills in very young kids, ways to build successful learners through reading, and literacy skill-builders and reading resources for all ages. And, remember, all of the resources of the Gwinnett County Public Library are easy to access for GCPS students through the Branch Out program, a new partnership between the school district and the county library system.
