A series of Monday evening read-alouds will help stock home libraries for students at Gwin Oaks ES. Two community partners--Cannon United Methodist and Beans and Butter Coffee House-- are teaming up with schools in the Brookwood Cluster to hold read-alouds and a book drive during the months of January and February. School leaders and teachers from Gwin Oaks, Five Forks MS, and Brookwood HS are serving as "celebrity" readers for the events that are set for 6-7 p.m., with remaining dates scheduled for Feb. 6, Feb. 13, and Feb. 20. Children donating a new or gently used book will receive a free cup of cocoa. The books collected from the book drive will be distributed to Gwin Oaks students during Read Across America week in March. The public is welcome to participate.
