Wedel, W-E-D-E-L, Wedel… The proper spelling of a skiing term in the 23rd round of competition has propelled Abhi Kapaganty, a Burnette ES 5th grader, to the state title in the 56th annual Georgia Association of Educators State Spelling Bee! Abhi will represent Georgia in the Scripps National Spelling Bee Championships set for May 28-June 3 in National Harbor, Maryland. In addition to his 1st place trophy and an all-expenses-paid trip to the national championships, Abhi walked away with $1,000, an iPad Mini, a $100 Amazon gift card, a Kindle, a Merriam-Webster dictionary, a one-year online subscription to Encyclopaedia Britannica, and a $100 U.S. Savings Bond.
