Next week, Gwinnett County will celebrate the life and contributions of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., with the United Ebony Society’s annual parade and program. With a theme of “The Time is Always Right to Do What is Right,” the celebration on Monday, Jan. 20, will include a short program that starts at 11 a.m., a parade, a community health fair, performances by students, and a display area with artwork of Gwinnett students. The Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center (GJAC), located at 75 Langley Dr. in Lawrenceville, will be the starting point for the parade which will proceed down Lawrenceville Hwy. and end at Moore MS, located at 1221 Lawrenceville Hwy. Lauren Seroyer, a Peachtree Ridge HS graduate who currently attends Louisiana State University, will serve as the parade marshal. Lauren, with her twin brother Steven, founded CARE Closets in GCPS high schools across the county to provide food and toiletries to young people in need in a confidential setting.
