May 12 is deadline to register for Dual Language Immersion programs
May 12 is the deadline for rising kindergartners to apply for Gwinnett’s Dual Language Immersion (DLI) program— an opportunity for elementary students to develop proficiency in another language while learning the curriculum. Families of rising kindergartners may elect for their child to learn a new language at one of the six schools offering DLI. Three schools— Trip ES (French) and Annistown ES and Bethesda ES (both Spanish)— are entering their third year in the program, meaning students in the inaugural class of DLI kindergartners will enter 2nd grade next year. Three additional schools—Camp Creek ES, Ivy Creek ES, and the new Baldwin ES— will begin a Spanish program in August, offering this option to new kindergarten students. The schools will accept transfers if available slots are not filled by students in the school zone and families provide transportation. Check out a recent radio story about how GCPS is using DLI to support young learners.
