GCPS Student Portal Resources
1. Media Catalog. Once logged in to the Student Portal, students can narrow their search to “e Book format” in Destiny Discover to locate and read digital books available through their local school.
2. Online Research Library e Books. In the Student Portal, select the “e Book option” in the Online Research Library link to find e Books that are available districtwide. Thanks to the generosity of publishers, GCPS is able to provide access to hundreds of additional titles through September.
3. Online Research Library Databases. Elementary students can access e Book versions of popular storybooks, chapter books, and graphic novels by selecting the “Tumblebooks” link from our Databases in the Online Research Library. Many titles are available in Spanish and French. Also located on the Database option of the Online Research Library link is BookFLIX, which pairs interactive fiction and non-fiction e Books for elementary students based on theme.
Gwinnett County Public Library Digital Resources using Branch Out
With BRANCH OUT!— a partnership between GCPS and the Gwinnett County Public Library (GCPL)— a student’s school ID doubles as a GCPL library card, giving access to the county’s extensive collection of digital and print resources as well as mobile apps for Android and iOS, including Libby, Flipster, Beanstack, Mango Languages, and more! To access library resources, students log in using their GCPS student ID and their birthdate (MMDD) as the Password. Students who do not have a Branch Out account yet can request an account online.
4. Overdrive. Using their Branch Out account from the Gwinnett Public Library, students can access thousands of e Books and audiobooks. Overdrive Kids and Overdrive Spanish allow the user to search specific collections. Overdrive is currently providing unlimited access to Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone!
5. eReads Kids. Many popular titles are available and users may put a book on hold for future viewing.
6. TeenBookCloud. This resource provides our Branch Out users an up-to-date collection that includes popular graphic novels in e Book format. Users have the option of changing the background and font color to make the e Books easier to read.
