GCPS says goodbye to 450 retirees
As the last school bell rings for the 2020–21 school year, 450 veteran educators and support staff members will mark their retirement from GCPS.
Future awaits the Class of 2021!
We hope you’ll check out this special issue of Communiqué, featuring written and spoken-word reflections, performances, photography, and visual art pieces representing each of our high schools.
Registration for HS summer classes continues
Registration closes soon for high school summer classes through Gwinnett Online Campus (June 7–30, register by May 30) and face-to-face classes at Collins Hill HS, Duluth HS, and Parkview HS (June 14–July 7, register by June 4). To address COVID-related learning gaps, GCPS will pay for up to two summer classes for high school students needing to retake a class previously failed. GCPS students taking a course for the first time pay $250 per course. Rising 9th graders may take Health and/or PE at Duluth HS, online, and through some Community Schools. Summer school graduation is set for July 8.
Give feedback on proposed supplemental resources
Staff, parents, students, and community members are invited to review and provide input on supplemental resources that have been proposed to support social emotional learning (SEL), suicide prevention, and music technology, starting May 17. The virtual public review of all resources will run through May 28.
Supplemental resources are used to support core instructional materials in the teaching and learning of the Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS) curriculum, or to support a districtwide initiative or priority in a non-instructional capacity. Before implementing supplemental resources for classroom use, Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) holds an extensive review involving a variety of stakeholders.
To begin the review, please visit this link.
For more about the supplementary resources review process, contact the Office of Instructional Resources and Support at 678-301-6828.

Share feedback with GaDOE on plans for COVID-19 relief funds
The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) is seeking public feedback as it develops its plan for funds received through the American Rescue Plan (ARP), the third COVID-19 relief bill. This feedback applies specifically to the funds received by GaDOE to address statewide learning loss and other needs, not to the funding allocated to individual school districts.
Interested Georgians—including students, families, educators, and community members—can provide feedback via email to ARP_ESSER@doe.k12.ga.us by May 19. Please consider answering the following questions in your email:
What are the top two to three issues currently facing students, schools, or subgroups of students (identify subgroups) as a result of, or in response to, the COVID-19 pandemic?
What strategies, actions, or promising practices has your school, district, or organization observed to be most effective in supporting student needs in response to the COVID-19 pandemic?
How can GaDOE better support students, families, and schools for the safe return to in-person instruction and continuity of services?
GaDOE will take this feedback into account as it develops plans for the use of ARP funds. For more information, click here.
