JA Discovery Center needs volunteers on March 9
Have you ever paid a bill or had a job? No matter your profession, your life experiences qualify you to be a successful volunteer at the Junior Achievement (JA) Discovery Center at Gwinnett!
Discovery Center has immediate openings for volunteers this week! Support your community and GCPS middle school students as they participate in an authentic, relevant, and experiential simulation on Thursday, March 9.
Volunteers in JA BizTown encourage students to communicate, collaborate with one another, think critically, and get creative as they interact within a simulated economy and take on the role of employee, citizen, and consumer. Volunteers receive training (and a Chik-fil-A lunch) during their shift, which typically runs 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Atlanta Science Festival: Get #curious
Get #curious at the upcoming Atlanta Science Festival! The festival is an annual public celebration of local science and technology. From March 14 to March 25, curious people of all ages will explore the science and technology in our region and see how science is connected to all parts of our lives in 100 engaging events, including hands-on activities, facility tours, presentations, and performances throughout the metro Atlanta region. Many activities are free or low-cost, some require pre-registration, and all are recommended by age group. On March 18, check out the 5th Annual Latino College and STEM Fair at the Georgia Tech Student Center or Discovery Day at the Petit Science Center at Georgia State University.The Festival culminates in the free, family-friendly EXPLORATION EXPO, an interactive day of demos, hands-on activities, and stage shows at Centennial Olympic Park. GCPS invites educators to GCPS Certified Teacher Job Fair on March 25 for scheduled interviews
Gwinnett County Public Schools will host a Certified Teacher Job Fair on Saturday, March 25, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Infinite Energy Center in Duluth.
The fair is by invitation only for those who are certified (or will be by August 2017) in the following fields: Mathematics (4-8) and (6-12), Science (4-8) and (6-12), Special Education, Engineering, Health Occupations, Elementary, Foreign Language, Career and Technical Education, Dual Language Immersion, English/Language Arts (4-8) and (6-12), and Speech-Language Pathology.
Once an applicant is registered at gcpsjobs.org, files are reviewed and interviews will be extended based upon file

Mark your calendar for Feb. 28 job fair for substitutes
GCPS’ Substitute Teaching Job Fair is set for Tues., Feb. 28 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Baldwin ES (123 Price Place in Norcross). At the event, learn more about being a Gwinnett substitute and complete an online application. All applicants are required to have at least 60 semester or 90 quarter hours of college credit, but teacher certification is not required for substitutes. Compensation ranges from $87 a day up to $97 per day for long-term subs (10 consecutive days in the same classroom). Apply today at www.GCPSjobs.org.

Archer HS' Parent Teacher Student Association is sponsoring its first-ever Historically Black College and University (HBCU) College Fair and Step Show on Feb. 25 from noon to 4 p.m. This college fair is open to all high school students and offers an opportunity to learn about the diversity, affordability, and academically competitive programs found at HBCUs. Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) was named a College Board Advanced Placement District of the Year for being the national leader among large school districts
